1930s ANTIQUE LEATHER OPERA GLASSES CASE (ONLY), PROVENANCE

$ 0.52

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

In 1932, at the age of 20, my mother left Ohio for New York City, taking a job at Macy’s complaint department, living at a boarding house, and continuing to give piano lessons and recitals. When she could afford to, she attended plays and concerts.
This is the case that held her opera glasses. (The glasses themselves, have been framed and passed down to my daughter). I can’t bear to throw the case away…so am offering at a very LOW price hoping to find it a new home.
The case measures 4-1/4 inches wide, 2-1/4 inches tall (not allowing for a slight collapse of the leather), 1-1/2 across the top for the widest part of the glass lens (1-3/8 inside) and 1 inch across the bottom for the smaller lenses.
Condition: AS IS…dry and crumbly leather, partial collapse, no lining on the lid, clasp is hard to push but it works, handle broken off with only scraps remaining. But if you want to save it from the trash, please bid.
Shipping will be First Class at the 5 oz. rate. International shipping on request. I ship no later than next business day after payment. Thanks for looking.
